RTE Arena Review: Arts Council of Ireland’s ‘Into the Light’ Exhibitions

Here’s Sean Rocks and I discussing the Arts Council’s ‘Into the Light’ Project. A series of exhibitions at the Crawford, Cork, Dublin City Gallery, Limerick City Gallery and The Model, Sligo. The piece here focuses mostly on the Hugh Lane show which has some great work in it but which also incorporates some frustrating curatorial gestures. Another point made in the review is worth re-iterating. There were four new commissions for the project: one for each of the participating galleries. All commissions are by male artists. In a celebration of 60 years of Arts Council support for the arts, wouldn’t some diversity have been valuable?
